Instructor Notes:

Introduction

STEM From Dance instructors created a routine to the song "Session 32" by Summer Walker, featuring LED strips on book props. They experimented with different ways to trigger the button, like by pressing each other's button, or by pressing the button on the floor. The button on the book spine triggers a state rainbow state or an orange color, whereas the button on the inside triggers a rainbow animation.

The microcontroller is on the back of the book towards the spine.

Placing the LED Strips

There are 2 LED strips that run along the back and front of the book, towards the spine. In this example, they are parallel to each other, but you can remix it so that they are wrapped in opposite directions or even connect to each other!

Place the buttons

One button is placed inside the book, so that the button will trigger when closing it.

Another button is placed outside the book, on the spine. The dancers tapped each other’s buttons to trigger a different animation.
