Instructor Notes:

Introduction

STEM From Dance instructor developed choreography to the song "Done For Me" by Fridayy, incorporating LED shoes. This instructor adapted an existing routine to include button taps on the shoes, drawing from Afrobeat, which features footwork involving one foot tapping the other. She used this motion to subtly tap the side of the shoe, triggering a change in the LED display from purple to a rainbow to a red/blue color combination.

Taping the LEDS down

The dancer uses short pieces of clear tape to secure the LED strip around both her shoes.

Placing the Buttons

The dancer places the button on the inner side of one shoe. She runs the wires along both sides of her legs and places the microcontroller in her pocket.

Hiding Wires

There are different ways to handle the wire placement. In this example, the dancer attached long connector wires from the button to the trinket, kept the trinket in her hoodie pocket, and hid the wires by wearing another, baggier pair of pants.
