Introduction

Introduction "Corporate in Red" is an interactive art installation by Gab Lucto, Hannah Lucto, and Shahariar Rahman that uses mechanical engineering, visual storytelling, and audience interaction—through servo motors, gears, switches, and a potentiometer—to explore the emotional unraveling of a corporate worker, contrasting repression and control with the instability of life outside corporate systems

Subcomponents

Movement of the Curtain

This project simulates a curtain opening mechanism using a potentiometer, a servo motor, and a rack and pinion system. Turning the potentiometer activates the servo motor, which rotates a gear connected to a rack, converting the motion into a linear movement. As the curtain opens, it reveals a murder scene.

Man typing

Hidden within the gray box is another rack and pinion mechanism. When the potentiometer is turned, the rack moves up and simulates the typing movement

Story

The artist used paper cut outs for the words. They had a bold, ornate first letter and used serif fonts for a storybook aesthetic
